Parent Association Educational Presentation about Teenage Vaping and Fentanyl Use

Offering proactive parent development opportunities is an essential aspect of our community engagement efforts at La Salle.

With the number of teenagers using drugs increasing over the last several years, opioids like fentanyl are contributing to a staggering number of hospitalizations and deaths. On Tuesday, November 15th, during our Parent Association Meeting, we hosted two guest speakers who shared informative and educational presentations about teenage vaping and fentanyl use.

Al Hradecky, the owner of Impact K9, gave a presentation on fentanyl and drug education and the use of drug detection canines in schools.

Dr. Edwin Peck, an emergency physician at Huntington Hospital, addressed the differences between opiates and fentanyl, ways to protect yourself and those around you from opiate abuse, how to tactfully approach at-risk friends and family members about their drug use, and what happens to the body during an overdose.

Thank you to Huntington Hospital, Impact Canine Solutions, and our Parent Association volunteers and leaders for hosting this important meeting for our parent community!
