Honoring Our Faculty and Staff - Convocation 2021

Honoring our Faculty & Staff

On Tuesday, October 5th La Salle hosted our annual Convocation to honor faculty and staff members celebrating milestone work anniversaries.

Thirty Years

Jenné Hakanen P’15,’15
Presented by Pat Bonacci, AFSC

It is hard to believe it was over 30 years ago that I interviewed Ms. Jenné Viloria for the opening in the Math Dept. – What is not hard to recall is that I knew immediately that she was the person I needed to shore up that Department. She was upbeat, positive, enthusiastic and she demonstrated all of the highest math skills necessary to be the all-level math person that we so needed. In those years, we sometimes had math teachers on staff that were only skilled through Algebra 1 & 2 and Geometry levels but not higher. Jenné could and would teach it all.

She quickly dived into the full-life of the school environment – coaching, department chair, class moderator and in time, she put her distinctive mark on the position of senior graduation event go-to-person. The senior class especially came to love her for the efforts she put into that position.

Jenné has received the Lasallian Teacher of the Year Award from her peers and multiple Signum Fidei Awards from her students - as well as numerous other accolades.

Jenné is by any matrix used – a superior teacher, a supportive and caring colleague, and a dedicated and devoted Lasallian – and for me – she is my dear friend and family.

On behalf of the La Salle community – it is my unique honor and blessing to hand you this thank you gift for your 30 years of commitment to our Lasallian Mission. THANK YOU Jenné!

Twenty Years

Kathryne Medlock

Kathy is the consummate professional – she does her work in an exemplary manner and she has always shown the highest ethics regarding the very sensitive and confidential information about our students/families that goes through her office including being awarded the St. Joseph Worker Award by her colleagues. When the need arises for her to pitch in and leave her office to help out at the front desk or wherever she is needed – she does it without complaints And, she has learned to flow with the punches when it comes to the numerous glitches that have occurred with the myriad of student record and grade systems that the school has used over her twenty years.

Tom is a passionate and dedicated teacher. He is always prepared to provide for his students the highest quality classroom experience – be it in Religious Studies or History. During these years he earned his Master Degree in Development and continues to hold a portfolio of development aimed at support of our San Miguel Scholarship program.

Ten Years

Tiare (Tuitama) Parisi

Tiare is one of the most successful coaches that La Salle has ever known. Both with the Girls and the Boys Volleyball program. One has only to look at the League and CIF banners that hang in the Duffy Lewis Gymnasium to quickly see the great impact she has had on the school’s athletic program. She also took on the challenge of driving the PE Dept. and she was especially key in the process of having the school’s PE classes gain UC approval.

Shari Baugh P’07

Shari has been influential in guiding the Athletic Department for more than 10 years. She began her association with the school as a parent volunteer and member of the Athletic Boosters. She is the proud mother of Troy Baugh, a graduate from the Class of ’07. During his playing days at La Salle – both Shari and her mother never missed one of Troy’s basketball games. Her support of the school eventually moved into a full-time position as a staff member and then assistant Athletic Director. She has demonstrated that she is a dedicated and professional colleague.

Five Years

Scott Barnard P’18,’20

Scott has been with our school for over five years. He is a valuable part of the finance office being responsible for over $15 million of cash receipts for tuition. He also handles miscellaneous cash receipts for the school as well as the booster accounts.

His outstanding strengths include his loyalty and his perseverance in getting the job done. He always has demonstrated the highest commitment to our school, parents, students and faculty with a caring approach. Scott is always willing to take on more; recently he accepted taking on Human Resources responsibilities. We are fortunate to have Scott on our side and I look forward to many more years.

John Erb

John joined our English Dept. after many years of teaching at Mary Star of the Sea High School. Not only is he a dedicated and very successful English teacher but he is also one of the most talented and widely known moderators of the Academic Decathlon program in the state. The hundreds of medals his Decathlon team members have earned are a testament to his ability to motivate and guide students in this program year after year.

Eddie joined his alma mater after years of teaching at St. Francis and after running his own successful educational academy. While at La Salle he was a four-year varsity member of one of the school’s most successful and talented soccer teams. He has led his Department. in becoming a central part of the school’s curriculum and he has now taken on new and important roles in the administration.
