Arts Alumni Gathering

On August 6, 2022, members of La Salle's Performing Arts alumni community gathered for a reunion at Porticos Art Space, where many past performances by La Salle's theatre, choir, dance, band and strings programs took place. Alumni from graduation years spanning 2002 - 2022 were invited to reconvene and meet other alumni from other programs. Many even reconnected with former La Salle teachers including Nancy Doede, David Paul Needles, Phil Velasco, Dr. Doug Rynerson and Dr. Jude Lucas. Through mostly word of mouth outreach, over 100 alumni attended the reunion which featured a slideshow with photos spanning the past 20 years of La Salle's performing arts history.

In the early 2000s, theatre, jazz, and dance concerts occurred on campus in the beloved Linda M. Grinstead Theatre (LMGT). The 100-seat black box showcased at least seven performance series a year, at the end of each semester and even in the summertime. Larger-scale productions including full-cast musicals and orchestra concerts occurred in the Dining Hall and amphitheatre. Over the years, students had the opportunity to work with professional musicians and actors that performed alongside the students on the stage, in the pit, and as they filled in the orchestra. Once the Porticos Art Space location opened up for events, most concerts shifted to the larger performance space which also provided greater seating capacity for the often full-capacity shows. Both the Linda M. Grinstead Theatre and Porticos Art Space became a second-home for participating students in La Salle's art programs, many of whom went on to pursue arts in various capacities after their graduation.
