Lessons from the Past: A Moving Discussion with Holocaust Survivors and Samara Hutman
A few weeks ago, our school community watched the thought-provoking film 'Repairing the World: Stories from the Tree of Life'. As a follow-up, we welcomed back Samara Hutman to our campus to continue this important conversation. Today, we were honored to have the privilege of hearing from holocaust survivor, Ella Mendel, who shared personal and powerful stories of tragedy, hope, and resilience. This event was a poignant reminder of the importance of learning from the past and working towards a better future. CARLOW Center for Medical Innovation and City of Hope Virtual Education and Research Training - YES2SUCCESS Program
City of Hope has developed a virtual laboratory program that utilizes the Labster and LabXchange platforms to teach underrepresented minority students in the sciences about various laboratory techniques and experiments while providing insight into cancer research.The main topics of focus are cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. Two La Salle CARLOW Center Students Take Away Prized Awards at the Los Angeles County Science & Engineering Fair!
Five La Salle students participated in the 73rd Los Angeles County Science & Engineering Fair. These students worked diligently on coming up with an experiment and executing it to completion. Projects included looking at new technology that allows researchers to use autofluorescence to detect cancer tissues; observing the effects of different heart medications and electrolytes on cardiomyocyte differentiation from human induced pluripotent stem cells; and performing complex meta-analysis to determine if there is a significant correlation between pesticide exposure and Dementia.
