Academic Advising

Counselors work with students to develop and promote mindsets and behaviors which enhance their learning potential.

Every three weeks the counseling department completes a grade check to monitor students who may be earning less than satisfactory grades. Students who are earning less than satisfactory grades are met individually to help them acquire the skills and knowledge to maximize their learning abilities.

Assistance Service

Students are connected and referred to appropriate assistance such as the supports below.

Academic Support (AS)

Academic Support is built into the school schedule on B days for students to connect with their teachers for additional assistance. Students may request to attend Academic Support with a specific teacher. This time is allotted for students to receive individual help or make up any missing work and exams. Students experiencing academic difficulties may be required to attend by the school counselor or administration.

Student Success Workshop (SSW)

A student may take advantage of SSW tutoring after school Monday through Thursday. SSW is coordinated by teachers who assist students with homework, study, and organizational skills. Students may elect on their own initiative to attend these sessions or they may be referred by teachers, counselors, or parents. Students experiencing academic difficulties may be required to attend by the school counselor or administration.

Teacher Tutoring

Teachers are available on an ongoing basis at lunch or after school. Please consult the teacher for availability.
