Keeping Our Promise
La Salle's Annual Financial Aid Campaign
La Salle is not just a school, it’s a promise. Every student who enrolls with us becomes a member of the La Salle family and, like any good family, we take care of our children. We help them achieve their goals, celebrate their successes and prepare them for the day when they must leave to pursue their dreams on their own.
For over three hundred years, the Christian Brothers have been guided by the need to care for the vulnerable, to provide a sound education rooted in Catholic values, and to share their gifts so that those less fortunate might gain opportunities for learning, leadership and service. Reaching out to families who might not have the resources to attend La Salle High School is at the core of Saint John Baptist de La Salle’s mission and is especially relevant today.
These are difficult times for many in the La Salle family. The continuing challenges resulting from the struggling economy are jeopardizing the futures of several of our children. Now is when we must keep our promise to educate, nurture and prepare our students to exercise leadership and service. Now is when we must come together as a family and protect what is most important – our children.
“During these difficult economic times, it is our promise that every student enrolled at La Salle will remain at La Salle, regardless of changes to a family’s financial circumstances.”
- Dr. Richard Gray, La Salle President
Keeing Our Families at La Salle
We have made a promise that all
students currently enrolled at La Salle will be able to stay and complete their high school education regardless of changes to their family’s income. Since September we have provided over $1 million in financial aid; but it is not enough. Already 30 families who have never requested tuition assistance before (and never imagined they would have to ask) are facing serious financial difficulties that are threatening their children’s education and future. To honor our promise and to keep all students at La Salle, we must raise an additional $100,000
now
.
“La Salle must be the constant in the storm. Our children need to know that regardless of whatever challenges their families may be facing, their experience at school will remain untouched by the economic crisis.”
- Dr. Richard Gray, La Salle President
Your gift is needed urgently. We ask that you share your resources, make an investment in our children and their future, and honor the La Salle promise. Keep our children at La Salle so they may continue to
Learn, Serve and Lead.
Our Financial Aid Program
The Board of Trustees is committed to making sure our student body is drawn from families who share our educational values and who mirror the population of the San Gabriel Valley, including those less fortunate.
The San Miguel Scholarship Program supports those students whose families live at or below the federal poverty level. Full tuition assistance is provided to at least 5 percent of our students, rewarding their academic achievement and personal strength in overcoming exceptional odds to obtain a La Salle education. There are currently 40 San Miguel Scholars at La Salle.
Through our Brother Celestine Scholarship Program we also provide up to 50 percent of full tuition to qualifying students from low, middle-income families who are currently attending Catholic school and wish to continue at a Catholic high school. There are currently 30 Brother Celestine Scholars at La Salle.
This year, 21% of our students are receiving tuition assistance compared to 17% last year.
