General Policies

Students enrolled in summer courses at La Salle are expected to conduct themselves according to the following policies and procedures.
Dress Code
La Salle expects the summer student body to maintain a standard of dress and grooming appropriate for an academic institution. Shirts must have sleeves and must cover the midriff; shorts and skirts must be of reasonable length; shirts must not have inappropriate logos (alcohol, tobacco, or drugs) or printed messages; shoes must be closed-toed (no flip-flops). Students arriving in inappropriate attire will be sent home.  The Director of Summer Programs and Dean of Students reserve the right to make final decisions regarding grooming and appearance; appropriate dress for all sports camps is determined by the individual coach.
Attendance Policies
General policy:
Attendance will be taken for all summer courses and camps.

Courses taken for academic credit:
In order to earn academic credit, the student must be in attendance for the majority of the class meetings. If absences due to vacation will interfere with your child’s attendance in this type of course, you must notify the course instructor and the Director of Summer Programs in advance to make alternate arrangements.  We will make every effort to accommodate vacations; however, if the instructor believes the number of absences will not allow the student to cover the material in the depth necessary to earn academic credit, the student will be asked to withdraw from the course.  (Please see “Payment of Course Fees and Refund Policies” section below.)

Enrichment and no-credit courses:
There is no required attendance policy for enrichment and no-credit courses.
Hours of Supervision and Contact Information
The Office of Summer Programs is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm.

Reporting of Grades
At the conclusion of the summer session, parents will receive a Report of Final Course Grade for all courses taken for academic credit. Enrichment courses and no-credit courses will not issue final grades. Please contact the individual instructor for specific grading requirements and rubrics.
Food Service
Snacks will be on sale in front of the Library from 8:30 to 1:00.
Photo Release
Photographs, video and/or interviews of students may appear on the school website, or in other schools, De La Salle Institute, or public media outlets.
